Mobile app design and development

Mobile app development for iOS and Android

An app starts with a useful action: accessing a service, updating information or staying in touch. UpCave designs applications for customers and teams, working with you to define features, user journeys and management tools.

Discuss your app

The need comes before the screens.

Designing an app means understanding who will use it and when. A customer browsing a service has different needs from a staff member updating information during work. These situations help us choose the features for the first version and distinguish the mobile experience from the activities managed behind the scenes.

The app and what makes it work.

User journeys and interface

We define the screens and steps needed for the main operations. The priority is to make actions, requested information and the states users encounter during use understandable.

Data and management

We assess whether a backend, an administration panel or connections to existing systems are needed. Content and user management are designed alongside the app when the service requires them.

Distribution and future development

Whether the app targets iOS, Android or both is a project decision. Publication, necessary accounts and subsequent updates need planning alongside the work on the screens.

A first version with clear priorities.

  1. Define the service

We organise users, operations and information. We identify the app’s central function and any dependencies on external tools.

  2. Design the journeys

We connect screens to the service’s processes and define what administrators need to manage. Later features remain separate from the initial scope.

  3. Develop and prepare for release

We build the agreed elements and plan distribution. Support, maintenance and future development arrangements are clarified in the proposal.

Questions about app development

How much does app development cost?

Features, target platforms, user roles, backend and integrations affect the scope. An estimate requires a useful first version to be defined, separating initial development from publication, management and updates.

How long does development take?

It depends on the planned operations, integrations and available materials. Distribution also needs planning. The schedule is defined for the project; a general description of an idea is not enough to give a reliable date.

Can the app connect to tools I already use?

A connection needs to be assessed against the existing system: documentation, access, data and available exchange methods. Clarifying these elements before development helps define what can actually be included in the project.

Which action will your app make easier?

Describe the users, the main need and the tools already in use. We will start with the features that are actually needed.
